10 Reasons To Greenlight Star Trek: Janeway NOW
1. The World Needs Janeway
It may not have gone unnoticed, but the world feels a little chaotic at the moment.
When Star Trek: Picard was announced, the internet was abuzz with comments, videos and articles that amounted to the same sentiment: the world needs Picard, now more than ever. And it's safe to say that if it needs Picard, then it also needs Janeway.
We are in the middle of a social, economic and political whirlwind. Optimism, dignity and empathy are sorely needed. And Janeway has those in abundance. Her wise words and resolve are exactly the kind of fortification we need.
In 2025, during the Star Trek: The Cruise VIII, Mulgrew reportedly spoke about how she would look to return if a Janeway series would offer hope.
So let it be said...the return of Kate Mulgrew as Kathryn Janeway would no doubt give a lot of people hope.
In a time when we are too often pitched against each other, and the voice that shouts loudest can drown out the crowd, Janeway's intolerance of bullies would be an uplifting balm to the soul. Her contempt for bullies was on full display in the episode State of Flux:
You know, I'm really easy to get along with most of the time. But I don't like bullies, and I don't like threats, and I don't like you, Culluh. You can try and stop us from getting to the truth, but I promise you, if you do I will respond with all the unique technologies at my command. Janeway out.
Now that sounds like a voice the world really does need right now.
