10 Reasons Why Glee Is Failing

glee Ever since it's inception four years ago, Glee's success has been fairly inconsistent, much like its writing. Back in season two, songs would regularly top the iTunes chart and the episodes would pull in over ten million viewers. Nowadays, tracks are lucky to break the top 100 on iTunes, and the episodes average about six million viewers. For a show that once defined popular culture, that's a steep drop. A lot of things can be credited to this sharp decline in popularity, something which this article aims to get to the bottom of. It seems more people are now criticising Glee, rather than praising it. It still tackles the same issues and structurally, it hasn't changed all that much. But somewhere along the lines, it lost the true essence of the show that made it the pop culture phenomenon it once was.

10. Absurd Plots

Glee Sue Baby Remember Sue's baby? No, neither do I. And what is going on with Finn? Seriously, this past season he€™s been all over the place. He went from having zero direction at all, to becoming a teacher (because apparently he can do that), to becoming a home wrecker by kissing Emma, to enrolling into college in March. None of it makes any sense. Critics often refer to the absurdity of some events, linking them in with a certain plausibility within €˜the Glee-universe€™. But at the end of the day, that€™s really no excuse. Half of the things that happen in Glee are overly ridiculous and offer no explanation whatsoever, á la Finn€™s entire character. Also, the fact that random characters keep popping up for the sake of it is largely unnecessary. Perhaps the most useless of all these was Santana and Quinn€™s intervention in €˜Naked€™. Why they needed to fly half way across the country just to say €œthis isn€™t you Rachel€ and then sing some song is a mystery to me. It could have been done over the phone to say the least. Don€™t even get me started on Bieste randomly dropping in to profess her love for Will, just to get rejected and then scurry off without a trace.
