4. The Movie Was Better

The Simpsons movie certainly wasnt bad; in fact given the fact that Fox hired the original writing team from the age-old sitcom, and threw $75 million in as a budget, Id say it was actually pretty damn good. South Park: Bigger, Longer, Uncut was made for less than half that though, and in almost every way its so much better. Even legendary musical producer Stephen Sondheim had to doff his hat, and sent them a letter upon its release exclaiming it was the best musical hed seen in fifteen years. Its just a near perfect parody of a musical; not just because the lyrics are so puerile, but because of its deep understanding and employment of proper musical convention, from the 90s Disney-echoing bars of Mountain Town to the Busby Berkley style campiness of Im Super. It might seem immature on the surface, but underneath Bigger, Longer, Uncut represents something more sophisticated than half the drivel youll see on an off-Broadway stage.
