10 Reasons Why South Park is Better Than The Simpsons

4. The Movie Was Better

The Simpsons movie certainly wasn€™t bad; in fact given the fact that Fox hired the original writing team from the age-old sitcom, and threw $75 million in as a budget, I€™d say it was actually pretty damn good. South Park: Bigger, Longer, Uncut was made for less than half that though, and in almost every way it€™s so much better. Even legendary musical producer Stephen Sondheim had to doff his hat, and sent them a letter upon its release exclaiming it was the best musical he€™d seen in fifteen years. It€™s just a near perfect parody of a musical; not just because the lyrics are so puerile, but because of its deep understanding and employment of proper musical convention, from the 90€™s Disney-echoing bars of €˜Mountain Town€™ to the Busby Berkley style campiness of I€™m Super. It might seem immature on the surface, but underneath Bigger, Longer, Uncut represents something more sophisticated than half the drivel you€™ll see on an off-Broadway stage.
