2. The Tiger - Westworld

Terra Nova
HBO

Big-budgets shows on HBO often get their VFX work done right, and this can be said about Westworld. The heady sci-fi drama was initially lauded for its captivating performances, superb production values, and thematic weight. Its visuals (in-camera and digital) were stunning, and this was exemplified by the digital de-aging of Robert Ford (Anthony Hopkins) in the show's first season.

Its second season, however, had one jarring use of CGI that did not go down well with its fans. Its third episode featured a tiger that strayed away from the Raj (a theme park version of colonial India) following its hosts going rogue.

The beastly host proceeds to attack Grace, one of the park's guests but the latter is able to escape. The tiger is not as poorly done as other entries on this list but still sticks out like a sore thumb, especially seeing how good the rest of the show is when it comes to digital visuals.

HBO's decision to use a CGI tiger instead of the real deal may have been due to logistics issues, but following PETA's rebuke of the show's use of live elephants later in the season, may have also been for the best.
