10 Sci-Fi TV Shows That Wasted Great Characters
2. Kuiil (The Mandalorian)
I have spoken.
The Star Wars franchise is hardly unaccustomed to making loveable characters with iconic catchphrases, but Kuiil still felt exceptional. He was a hardened figure who'd suffered from a sordid past and felt truly weathered, but brought the right kind of gentle, mentor-like energy to season one of The Mandalorian.
There was so much to love about this guy, including his excellent performance (Nick Nolte on voice and Misty Rosas for the body), eye-catching design and general writing. He acted as the perfect contrast to Din Djarin and a wonderful protector for the ever beloved Grogu.
Unfortunately, despite doing everything right, he ended the season as a victim to two Imperial Scout Troopers whilst protecting Grogu. His death certainly did tug at the heartstrings, but that didn't stop it from feeling like a huge waste. There was still so much more he could have given, and there's no doubt he would have been a great asset in season two.
Let's also not forget that he was killed off-screen, leading to the reveal feeling anticlimactic. That's just adding insult to injury.
