10 Sci-Fi TV Shows We'll Be Glued To This Year

3. The Boys

The Boys started with a boyfriend and girlfriend holding hands in the street and gazing into each other's eyes. And then speedster A-Train crashes literally through the girlfriend, exploding her in front of her boyfriend's eyes. Developed by Eric Kripke of Supernatural fame, this is not your normal superhero show.

The Seven (this world's version of the Justice League) are proof of the old adage that absolute power corrupts absolutely. Far from the perfect gods that DC would have their heroes presented as, these corporate heroes are more concerned with public appearances and the metrics behind their visuals than they are saving people.

Led by the always incredible Karl Urban, The Boys are a ragtag band of mercenaries who each have their own reasons for hating The Seven. Mostly normal humans with no powers, they face off against these godlike beings and begin to uncover a conspiracy that goes throughout the superhero world. Season 1 featured super-powered steroids, a laser-eyed baby used as a weapon, and a ballet of violence.

If you haven't read the comics, you will not see some of these twists coming and owe yourself a watch. If you have, you're already itching for Season 2.

After hearing that you are what you eat, Mik took a good hard look at his diet and realised he might just be a szechuan spare rib alongside prawn fried rice.
