One of the most significant new characters in The Rings of Power is a Man called Halbrand. In the trailer, he is stranded on a raft during a tumultuous storm in the Sundering Sea. In another shot, we see Galadriel on his raft, with Halbrand pushing her hair back to see her pointed ears, confirming she is an Elf.

Even though this shot doesn't seem like a big deal, it has massive implications. The First Age of Middle-Earth concluded with the War of Wrath - a monumental battle where Elves, Men, Dwarves, and Valar were pitted against Sauron's master, Melkor Morgoth. Even though the heroes emerged triumphant, the intensity of the battle resulted in an entire continent collapsing into the ocean. Since Galadriel resided in this area during this era, it's plausible she and many others got swept out to the ocean.

Just to be clear, there is no mention of Galadriel being lost at sea in the books. But since Tolkien was quite vague about this time period, it gives the showrunners a lot of liberties with this era, meaning it's possible this is how she and Halbrand encounter each other in the show.
