10 Star Trek Burns That Still Sting

3. I'm Not Talking About The Puppy

Star Trek Q
CBS

In The Q And The Grey, Captain Janeway is visited by John de Lancie's Q, the omnipotent trickster who needs help with one little task. He needs her to be the mother to his child. No big deal.

Of course, Janeway flat out refuses the request which then leads to a series of attempts by Q to woo her, including filling her quarters with roses and making a huge bed appear in the shape of a heart. To be fair, he does give it a bit of effort!

In one of his final attempts to convince her to do him this great favour, he makes an Irish Red Setter puppy appear in her ready room. Besotted as she is with it, as it reminds her of her own dog Molly, Janeway again refuses him. This time, however, they are both interrupted by the appearance of another Q, this one female and played by Suzie Plakston. She is introduced with one of the most cutting lines in all of Star Trek:

What are you doing with that dog? I'm not talking about the puppy.

Q's face is priceless.
