10 Superheroes Who Would Work Better On Television
9. Nightwing
Dick Grayson has been an integral part of the DC universe for decades, but the live-action adaptations have always had their drawbacks. Burt Ward played the character as an adolescent in the campy 1960s television series and Chris O'Donnell didn't exactly have great material to work with in the films where he played the famous sidekick. One easy way to get the character the respect he deserves from the non-comic readers out there is to give him his own series under the Nightwing identity. Not only would losing the Robin name help him shed the squeaky clean image of previous incarnations, but having his own series set in Blüdhaven would give him the chance to really spread his wings (no pun intended). http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wvvvEK_6_fk Blüdhaven has already been mentioned on Arrow, so we know the city where Nightwing prowls the rooftops exists in the TV universe being established, but most Batman characters are off limits for the time being. This was the same thing Smallville dealt with, but Warner Brothers may have lightened up on that stance seeing as Harley Quinn was featured in a brief cameo on Arrow. This is a character who needs to be portrayed as a real person who is not defined by his role as Batman's sidekick. There needs to be a definitive Dick Grayson story outside of the comics and television is the best place for it. The medium allows for longer story arcs that will give the character a whole new life where he isn't relegated to spouting "Holy (insert pun here) Batman!"
