10 Things You Didn't Know About Archer

7. The San Francisco Chase Scene Was a Reference to the Movie "Bullitt"

Archer is full of great little nods, but this one was a full-blown homage.

In the eighth episode of season six, titled The Kanes, Lana, Archer, and the baby travel to Berkeley to meet Lana's parents. After some masked robbers steal her father's microbiology research, they are forced to chase them down through the streets of San Francisco.

While it's not a shot-for-shot remake, the scene features plenty of references to the iconic 1968 Peter Yates movie starring Steve McQueen. If you haven't seen it yet, then there's your plans for the evening sorted.

In the episode, Lemuel Kane's ’68 Ford Mustang is a direct lift from Bullitt ("This is an American icon!" as Archer proclaims), the streets of San Francisco were modelled to resemble the sixties, and a lot of the cars in the background were selected intentionally to match the film. How many can you spot?

Annoyingly, Sterling is not wearing his pitch-black tactical turtleneck for the chase, even though McQueen himself is famously sporting one in the movie.

Big fan of TV shows, music, and indie films. Gets too emotional when watching football. Secretly thinks he could run a Premier League club based only on his time spent playing Football Manager.
