5. The Age Gap Between Annie And Jeff Is Creepy

Generally speaking, age gaps in romances are only discussed when they pertain to when one member of that romance is underage. This is not a problem, but a large age gap can still be creepy even when both parties are legal and consenting adults.

When the show begins, our protagonist Jeff is pushing 30, meanwhile Annie is only 19. While that does make her a consenting adult - and thankfully Jeff never met her before the show began so it's spared the added creepy layer of grooming - is still pretty sketchy.

Once the gap in age between these two processes in your mind, you'll likely immediately afterwards realize how many times Jeff calls her "kid", "the kid" etc. And why wouldn't he call her a kid? He's a full decade older than her.

If Annie was just a bit further into her 20's at the start, this honestly wouldn't be a problem. By then she would be a full adult, so if she wants to date someone 10 years older than her, it's her business. As it stands, it should come as no shock that the show tried its damnedest to hook Jeff up with Britta for the first two seasons.
