10 Things You Need To Know About Twin Peaks: The Return
5. It Will Be Bittersweet [SPOILER WARNING]
Though the cast list is not entirely accurate, a few beloved faces will not be making an appearance - unless refashioned via digital trickery.
Frank 'BOB' Silva died many moons ago, as did Jack 'Pete Martell' Nance. The backwoods mythology suffered another identity crisis when Michael J Anderson, the cryptic, dancing Little Man From Another Place had a drastic and public social media fallout with the production. Series co-lead Michael 'Harry S. Truman' Ontkean is firmly retired, with received wisdom (and hastily-deleted pictorial evidence) confirming that Robert Forster is the new sheriff in town. Don S. 'Major Briggs' Davis - a link between two worlds - died years before Frost approached Lynch with the idea to revive the show. He was originally mooted to save Cooper from the purgatory of the Back Lodge, had the show not been cancelled originally.
Even watching some of those faces who did make it to the production process will be a sobering experience. Catherine Coulson, the beloved Log Lady, died weeks into filming. Warren 'Doc Hayward' Frost succumbed to a long illness. Miguel 'Albert Rosenfield' Ferrer also died, of cancer, after filiming wrapped.
Ghoulishly, all three managed to shoot at least some of their scheduled scenes - but watching them will be bittersweet.
