Maureen Ashby (John Teller's mistress and mother to his illegitimate daughter) contacts Gemma to tell her that Abel is in Belfast which prompts the Sons to travel to Ireland where they rendezvous with Sons of Anarchy Belfast to bring Abel home. Upon arriving in Belfast, the Sons are made aware than the Real IRA have had enough of their current leaders profiteering ways and suggest that Jax kill him in exchange for Abel. After learning that Abel has been adopted through the Catholic church, Jax decides it would be better for Abel to remain with his new family in Ireland rather than getting caught up with club life. Jimmy O, the current leader of the Real IRA has other plans and murders the parents and kidnaps Abel in order to give him back to Jax in exchange for safe passage to the States. Abel, however, is returned to Jax after a local priest exchanges himself for the baby.
