10 Thrilling TV Moments When Characters Finally Learned The Truth
7. Lois Finds Out Clark Is Superman, Sort Of (Lois & Clark)
Lois & Clark: The New Adventures of Superman was a soapy 1990s version of Superman with Teri Hatcher and Dean Cain as Lois and Clark, but it was surprisingly enjoyable at times and never took itself too seriously. Lois doesn't discover Clark's secret until the season two finale, but there is a previous revelation that she later doesn't remember which hilariously sends up the implausibility of Superman's disguise. Tempus, a time-travelling villain from the future accompanied by H.G. Wells (which doesn't make vast amounts of sense even in context), meets Lois Lane and is tickled to learn that she doesn't yet know of Superman's identity. He grabs a pair of glasses and proceeds to take them on and off, alternating between Superman and Clark Kent, then practically yells, "Hello? Duh! Clark Kent is Superman!" It's all so very camp, and then Clark turns up and Lois slaps him, then snaps, "And don't pretend that hurt!" The later revelation which sticks is a well-written multi-episode arc, but this one is fantastically over the top and a self-deprecating wink at one of the most famously ridiculous aspects of Superman's character.
