10 Thrilling TV Moments When Characters Finally Learned The Truth

5. Debra Finds Out Dexter Is A Serial Killer (Dexter)

Doakes' relentless pursuit of Dexter in seasons one and two was entertaining, but the writers kept us waiting until Dexter's lesser years to reveal his murderous extra-curricular activities to his sister Deb. The final scene of the otherwise mediocre season six was a cliff-hanger, and its continuation in season seven gave us hope that Dexter would successfully reinvent itself. Of course, it didn't, and Dexter infamously ended up a lumberjack, but for a brief moment it looked like the show was on the right track. Deb watches, horrified, as Dexter stabs his victim and turns at the sound of her gasp. "Oh God," he murmurs, and the episode cuts to black. After waiting impatiently for the season seven premiere like we were back in season one, we get an extremely well-acted scene when Debra asks Dexter point blank whether he is a serial killer and Dexter, who's all out of lies, can only respond, "Yes." Why did you do this to us, Dexter, when you were only going to go and ruin it again?
