10 Times Doctor Who Became The Weirdest Drama On TV

7. Kinda

The Fifth Doctor started his tenure in a clinical atmosphere of hard sci-fi, but it wasn't long before things got hallucinogenic, via jungle-based curate's egg Kinda. The planet of Deva Loka provided some of Eighties Who's weirdest and wildest images, as ancient forces rose up - as they tend to do - to challenge the forces of logic. Veteran screen star Richard Todd donned a safari suit to act like a big baby, Liver Bird Nerys Hughes appeared wearing a saucy space outfit and future That's Life presenter Adrian Mills went a bit Greystoke in a scantily-clad turn that was also on the politicially incorrect side, somewhat surprisingly back in the definitive "right on" decade. Not weird enough? Then how about snake-like enemy The Mara. Possessing stroppy Australian Tegan, it transported her to a black realm populated by a Tudor riddler and Lou Beale off of EastEnders. Distinguishing marks to look out for in someone who's been "Mara'ed" include a penchant for living tattoos. Oh, and and having lipstick on your teeth!
