10 Times The Simpsons Really Did It

3. Judge Judy And Executioner

Back in the season fourteen episode "Three Gays of the Condo" Homer sarcastically asks Marge "Who made you Judge Judy and executioner?" (a clear play on "judge, jury, and executioner"). For those not keeping track, season fourteen of the show aired in 2002-03. Jump ahead to 2007's feature film Hot Fuzz. The second in Edgar Wright's Cornetto trilogy, the film has Simon Pegg and Nick Frost playing cops in the small, seemingly idyllic town of Sanford. Pegg is the go-getter, the hero, Frost the bumbling sidekick. When Pegg's Nicholas Angel at one point states that someone has appointed themselves "Judge, jury, and executioner" (someone being the father of Frost's Danny Butterman), Frost replies "he is not judge judy and executioner!" Great (funny) minds think alike.
