10 Times Star Trek Refused To Give Fans What They Wanted

9. Leaving Fans Guessing About Picard Season Three

Fans have been hunting for new details about the upcoming season of Picard, ever since season two came to a close. The season three cast reveal trailer sparked a ton of buzz by confirming that the entire Next Generation main cast will be returning (aside from Wesley and Dr. Pulaski), but, for a while, this was all the information we had.

Well, recently showrunner Terry Matalas has been teasing us with hints through his tweets and interviews, but he's hesitant to reveal too much, despite the daily questions.

A lot of his hints focus on the villain of season three, who, as Matalas confirmed on his twitter and at a Comic-Con panel, is a new character, female, and played by a popular actress who hasn't been in Trek before (which rules out Sela, an early guess by the fans).

Patrick Stewart also stated (during that same panel) that there would be multiple different Enterprise's appearing in the new season. One remains a mystery, but he did confirm that they'd be returning to the Enterprise-D bridge for a while. You may remember that the Enterprise-D was half-destroyed in Star Trek: Generations and the saucer-section crashed into Veridian III, so the one we end up seeing could be either a simulation or a museum display (something that was teased through an easter egg in season 2). However, Matalas has denied these reports, saying that the season will include many nods to the past, but not a return of the Enterprise-D in the way that the fans expect. Perhaps what Stewart was talking about was actually another Galaxy-class ship.
