10 Tiny Details In Futurama You Definitely Missed

6. The Professor's Fortune

The Professor’s vast fortune is referenced several times throughout the Futurama series. He wanted an heir to look after the money he would eventually leave behind, and he seemed to have no trouble running a business or inventing obviously expensive things like the Smell-o-scope. So, where did his money come from?

It would be easy to assume from owning Planet Express, but the company was never truly successful until the Professor disappeared into the future, and it didn’t come from selling his technology as he typically kept his inventions for himself. Instead, the Professor was able to make his fortune in teaching.

He is a Professor after all, and had a permanent spot as a lecturer at Mars University. However, the Professor didn't live on Mars, and rarely ever visited, so was is this even possible?

When Fry enrolled at Mars U, he was the only person to take his nephew’s class. The Professor made up the ‘Mathematics of Quantum Neutrino Fields’ so no student dare take it. This means that even throughout the school terms, Hubert was happily sitting on Earth raking in the money from Mars University, simply trusting that no one would ever actually have need of his teaching skills a whole world away.
