10 TV Seasons That Are Practically Flawless

2. The People V. O.J. Simpson

Perfectly paced and exhilarating throughout, The People v. O.J. Simpson has the added benefit of being based on one of the most shocking and consistently surprising real life trials in modern history. After football player and Hollywood actor O.J. Simpson is arrested for murdering his ex-wife and her friend, he brings together a crack team of lawyers to defend him and slowly turn the trial into a conversation about race.

The show is an examination of a flawed justice system and a prosecution that was mishandled from the beginning. The scathing criticism of the media, celebrities and powerful figures does not mean the characters involved are without dimension.

With great performances by Sarah Paulson, John Travolta, Courtney B. Vance and Sterling K. Brown, every character gets a chance to shine. All the players are layered and complex and the show chooses not to make anyone look wholly bad or good.

The writing is top notch and so many bizarre things happened in the Simpson trial that the show never feels like it's reaching to fill time with unimportant details. From beginning to end, the show will have your mouth agape and keep you guessing every step of the way.
