Star Trek has had a tumultuous journey in the world of comic books. Going from Marvel to DC, and then back to Marvel, before being owned by no one for a few years and then finally being bought by IDW (as of writing, it could change at any time).

Over the fifty years of Star Trek, each company has had its own take on the Universe. Some have been tie-ins to the shows or films, while others have been set in their own separate continuities. This gives you tons of self-contained stories to choose from.

A great series to sate your Star Trek hunger is Waypoint. This six-issue series is made up of short stories of various characters found in the Star Trek Universe all penned by different writers.

If you're looking for something a bit weirder, the New Visions series may be perfect for you. Created by John Byrne, New Visions is referred to as a photo novel as instead of relying on traditional art. Byrne takes images from the original Star Trek TV shows and crops and models them to create new stories and adventures for the original crew.
