10 TV Show Moments That Aren't What They Seem
3. Perspective Inspiration Was Taken From The Films - The Rings Of Power
Blowing the minds of just about every movie fan on the planet upon its release around the turn of the century, Peter Jackson's The Lord of the Rings trilogy showed what marvels could be achieved on the big-screen via the wonders of forced perspective.
And following in the sizeable footsteps of those hobbits and wizards who came before them, the team behind Amazon's recent The Rings of Power series also relied on this brilliant piece of camera trickery for a number of the show's most mesmerising beats.
While admittedly and understandably still using the odd piece of visual effect trickery to make certain characters seem a little smaller or bigger than they were in reality, there was actually a specific moment director Wayne Che Yip recalled that contained absolutely no tinkering at all.
Coming during Episode 5, Partings, the director would note that a conversation between Nori and The Stranger at the beginning of that chapter was achieved entirely through forced perspective alone, stating to ComicBook.com:
"...that scene, at the beginning of episode five when they talk to each other, is the one time that they actually managed to share the frame together."
All the CGI in the world still can't beat that feeling of seeing some old school movie/TV magic stealing the show, eh...
