10 TV Shows That Deserve Comic Book Continuations

1. Firefly

Firefly I could just say the show€™s title and leave it at that. Anyone who€™s a true geek will have heard of €œFirefly€ even if they haven€™t watched it. Still, better safe than sorry. €œFirefly€ was about a group of space explorers living on the outskirts of society in the future. Humanity has left Earth behind, and the new star system they occupy is ruled by the Alliance. Essentially a Western in space, the show followed Malcolm Reynolds and the crew of the Serenity as they traveled in space fighting the forces of the Alliance as well as criminals and others who would do them harm, although the crew mostly tried to earn enough income to keep the ship working. Despite critical acclaim by fans, the show was cancelled after one season. Even with a follow-up movie three years later, fans today are still hoping that €œFirefly€ will be revived. Yet let€™s be honest, as a TV show, that€™s not going to happen. With Joss Whedon being Marvel Studio€™s new golden boy, Nathan Fillion solving crimes on ABC, and the rest of the cast going their separate ways, it€™s quite apparent that we won€™t see the crew of the Serenity on our TV screens ever again. Still, the great thing about the show€™s short history is that it could go anywhere, and that€™s where the comic book comes in. Plot-wise, there were not that many loose threads left over from the show and movie, so it€™s possible that a series could be created that appeals to both fans and newcomers. We can continue to follow Captain Reynolds and his crew as they travel across the pioneer-looking galaxy as they try to make their living. This would be perfect for a company like IDW or Dynamite Entertainment to take on. The sky€™s the limit when it comes to €œFirefly€...or rather the galaxy is. Do you agree with these choices?
