10 TV Shows That Were Unexpectedly Resurrected

Due South was a Canadian crime-comedy series created by Paul Haggis and airing on CBS in America between 1994 and 1999. The show is set in Chicago and follows Constable Benton Fraser played by Paul Gross, observing his often humorous attempts at solving various crimes.

These days, the show is looked back upon fondly, but during the nineties it had a tough time sticking around, leading to not one but multiple unexpected resurrections. After its first season, CBS cancelled the series, displeased with the show's ratings.

Most fans thought that was that until the show was unexpectedly successful in the UK and Canada. This meant the production company was able to fund a second season.

American viewers were even more surprised, then, when this prompted CBS to pick the show back up again. The elation didn't last long, however, as CBS cancelled the show after another eighteen episode run.

With two cancellations under its belt, it seemed the die was cast for Due South. Yet the following year the CTV network in Canada resurrected the show again, funding a further two seasons. What made the whole thing so unexpected was that with each subsequent cancellation, the chances of revival seemed more and more absurd.
