10 Upcoming Comic Book TV Shows You Need To Know About

4. Supergirl

Now here's one that's gone from a disputed rumour to confirmed that greenlit for a series and casting most of its stars in about as much time as it took people to forget the character's last foray into live-action. Supergirl previously headlined a movie in 1984, mainly filmed in Britain and Helen Slater playing the title role. It wasn't a good movie, even with Christopher Reeve slated to make a cameo (it was in the same continuity as his Superman films, apparently), Faye Dunaway as the bad guy, and Mia Farrow and Peter O'Toole rounding out the cast. This new Supergirl has a similarly impressive cast, but will hopefully have more for them to do. The CBS TV show will star Glee's Melissa Benoist as Superman's cousin, Calista Flockhart from Ally McBeal as her boss at a media conglomerate, with Helen Slater and former TV Man Of Steel Dean Cain cast in unspecified roles. Oh and this will be another procedural, because...networks are boring. Premiers the back half of this year.
