Another missed opportunity.
Firefly Online was a planned RPG that died a quiet death in 2016.
It would have had player assuming the roles of spaceship captains, giving opportunities to assemble a crew, customise a ship and explore the 'Verse.
Firefly Online was announced back in 2013 for iOS and Android, and then later announced for Windows and macOS, with Steam set to distribute it.
At one point, the series' cast even signed on to voice their characters from the show, and Wil Wheaton was reportedly signed to voice the male version of the player's avatar.
Firefly Online's development slowed and then ground seemingly to a halt in 2015, and the last update from the developers came in March of 2016.
There are probably a few hardcore fans with their fingers still crossed, but anyone holding their breath would be long dead. And it's a crying shame, because this one could have been a gorram masterpiece.
