Everyone loves a crossover. Pop culture is full of moments where franchises collide in spectacles that astound audiences around. From Frankenstein Meets the Wolf Man, to Spiderman: No Way Home, crossovers have proven to be profitable and oftentimes quite enjoyable.

This desire for everything to become a crossover exists quite prominently in fan theories, and Battlestar Galactica is no exception. There are theories that Galactica is actually set in the same universe as Christopher Nolan's Interstellar, as well as another fan theory that proposes Battlestar Galactica is actually part of the Matrix universe.

This theory suggests that everything we see in Battlestar Galactica is a build-up to the creation of The Matrix, with our Earth being where the Matrix takes place. Essentially the theory claims the machines we see in The Matrix are simply our Earth's version of Cylons.

While there is no obvious way to prove that The Matrix and Battlestar Galactica are in the same universe, there are enough similarities to believe this theory if you squint really, really hard at it. In The Matrix, there are several computer programs that have achieved sentience and have even reproduced, much like the Cylons.

This theory may simply come down to the fact that both franchises have beautiful blonde women in red dresses and robots, but it is still a fun theory to indulge in as the show's never ending cycles of creation and destruction mirrors the Matrix's own philosophy of destruction and creation.
