10 Worst How I Met Your Mother Episodes
4. Slapsgiving 3: Slappapointment In Slapmarra
Yet another
journey into absurdity and redundancy, this episode concludes one of the show’s
longest running jokes in a poor and tasteless way.
We were all amazed when Robin turned out to be a pop-star, beginning the whole slap-bet bit. We rejoiced during Slapsgiving, especially with Marshall’s gorgeous piano piece and singing which to this day is one of the best songs in How I Met Your Mother. So perhaps our expectations were too high, maybe the show shot for a standard they were surprised to meet and couldn’t reach again, because the last slap comes as a miserable disappointment.
Marshall tries to psyche out Barney by telling him a long-winded, ridiculous and convoluted tale about how he learned a devastating technique from the masters of slap. It might be purposely over the top and exaggerated, but it's also a waste of time.
It made no sense, bent reality far too much for the show, and was obviously another filler episode in this drawn-out snooze fest of a final season.
