11 Scariest Horror-Themed TV Shows To Binge-Watch This Halloween 2020
8. The Twilight Zone
The Twilight Zone is more commonly associated with science fiction but has dabbled with outright horror on many occasions, and certainly in the most recent series, was most successful when it did so.
Episodes such as Replay, The Traveller, and Not All Men were highlights of the new season and all leant heavily on horror, further examples of Jordan Peele’s skill in that genre. Some of the more moralistic episodes were a bit limp though and the sci-fi concepts felt a bit worn; all stuff we’ve seen before.
In the series original run during the 1960s, classic episodes such as Nightmare at 20,000 Feet terrified audiences, and in particular Time Enough at Last portrayed one man’s life after the nuclear apocalypse - a scenario that was on everyone’s mind during The Cold War era.
The 60s era episodes are a little quaint when viewed now, but the quality of concepts is clear to see, and while Rod Serling wrote two thirds of the original run, guest writers included such sci-fi and horror fiction luminaries as Ray Bradbury and Richard Matheson.
