12 Doctor Who Actors Who Died In 2023
1. Michael Gambon
Michael Gambon famously portrayed Kazran Sardick in the Eleventh Doctor Christmas special A Christmas Carol. A thinly-veiled take on Ebeneezer Scrooge, the Doctor helped Kazran soften throughout the episode by enlisting the help of none other than Katherine Jenkins.
And a flying shark.
Though Gambon would definitely be best-known to audiences today as Albus Dumbledore, his career saw him play an enormous number of roles in film and television. He was also mentored by Lawrence Olivier as one of the earliest members of the Royal National Theatre.
He was knighted in 1998 for his services to drama. He won several awards, including Olivier Awards and BATFAs as well. His love of classic cars also earned him several memorable appearances on BBC's Top Gear, with one particularly hairy corner being named in his honour.
Gambon died in September 2023, at 82 years of age.
