4. Astrid

Aside from Hansel and Gretel, Astrid is the only other character on this list to show up in one episode only to never be seen again. Whereas the siblings' story at least felt complete, their absence is easy to make sense of; Astrid's is just downright baffling. Introduced as a love interest for Grumpy/Leroy in both the past and present and as an ally to the Blue Fairy/Mother Superior, her unexplained disappearance would be much easier to grasp if neither of those characters also never showed up again. Leroy has continued to be a recurring, scowling presence in Storybrooke for all three seasons, while Blue manages to show up now and again to help when it's convenient for her, but Astrid is never with either of them. Leroy remains, apparently, single, while Blue is even "killed" by Peter Pan's shadow, after which a funeral is held that Astrid, unlike a few other unnamed nuns, doesn't bother to attend. Was there a plan for her originally? Maybe. But if there was, viewers should've swept their expectations under the rug a long time ago, much like the show did with her.
