6. Who's Shoes
As this list has already established, Doctor Who is often the subject of intense tabloid scrutiny and this reached whole new levels of fevered frenzy in the build up to its 50th anniversary special in 2013. Naturally the show responded to this by revealing absolutely nothing about what was to come in the landmark extravaganza so when the show's official Twitter released this picture with no pre-warning, the entire internet went into meltdown. But who's shoes even are they anyway? Well, if you hadn't guessed already, the feet in question belong to Matt Smith and David Tennant whose respective Doctors joined forces for The Day of the Doctor spectacular. At this point details of their hotly anticipated on screen encounter were few and far between (to say the very least) so it's understandable that something like this managed to create a stir. It was also another example of just how powerful this show can be. Only the Doctor Who fandom could make a picture of shoes a worldwide trending Twitter topic.
