12 Essential Stocking Fillers For Doctor Who Fans

10. Doctor and Dalek Action Figure Sets

Toys R 1st If you like your Doctors a little larger then these will be more up your street, plus you get a Dalek thrown in for good measure in these story themed sets. These are priced at £20 each as they are limited and exclusive to Toys R Us in the UK. If you wanted to get all 11 Doctors it's going to cost you £220 so best stick to your favourites. These figures are hangovers from the old 5 inch range that some may remember, which was ended a couple of years ago in favour of 3.75 inch or Star Wars scale, just as Star Wars launched their 6 inch Black Series line, but that's a rant for another time. It's undeniable that the standard of these figures continues to impress, the detail and substance is all there on show, which makes it all the sadder that this range has ended in the mainstream market. As such its even more reason to get your hands on a couple of these sets if you can as it's unlikely there will be another chance. It's a great opportunity to update your collection if you have any Doctors missing. The sets are based on Daleks from specific stories for each Doctor. Even the Eighth, who comes with a unique, red ,Dalek Alpha from the comic 'Children of the Revolution'. There really is something for everyone in this range. Personally I've been looking forward most to the First Doctor set and in hand it was everything I expected and more. They come in cool looking boxes with photo backdrops, which look great on display, with bios of the Doctor and the Dalek in each story on the back. The only niggles are that these sets don't come with any accessories such as sonic screwdrivers, apart from the Fourth Doctor set, weirdly. This isn't such a big deal apart from the Seventh Doctor who comes minus hat and trademark umbrella. The other niggle is how some of the Doctors aren't necessarily screen accurate to the story in question, however information suggests this was never intended to be the case due to budgets. These are now all on sale, so keep an eye out for them on the shelves or online. If for whatever bizarre reason you aren't a fan of Daleks, you can find many more action figure sets in the BBC Shop or Forbidden Planet.
