12 Incredible TV Episodes (That Fans HATED)
1. The Fly - Breaking Bad
One of the most infamous instalments listed here, Fly is a tense, sparse instalment of former X-Files staff writer Vince Gilligan’s megahit Breaking Bad wherein the protagonist, tortured former teacher turned badass meth-dealer Walter White, pursues a lone eponymous bug which has managed to infiltrate his drug-concocting operation.
That’s it.
The entire season three episode focuses solely on Walt’s attempts to catch this persistent bugger, earning the ire of fans and critics alike as many considered the conceit interminably slow and simple.
Of course, it’s a metaphor for Walt’s all-consuming single-minded ambition, the same flaw which will come to be his eventual downfall, but viewers didn’t care about that, and thus this became the first and last time that director Rian Johnson ever infuriated an entire fandom with his subversive direction.
