12 Saddest Bojack Horseman Episodes

While most episodes on this list feature just one sad story throughout, Ancient History tells three separate arcs that all end in devastating ways at the same time. There is no escaping feeling somewhat depressed after watching this episode.

Still in recovery mode after his stunt accident while filming Philbert, BoJack goes on the hunt for more pain meds after Hollyhock chucked his down the drain. This ended with him having no means of getting more pills, something that he already admitted to not truly needing, with the exception of deliberately getting in a car crash. This was low, even for BoJack.

Todd struggled to cope with his asexuality in this episode, as he desperately wanted to be Emily's boyfriend, but couldn't offer her the sexual intimacy she needed. He even made a working sex robot in an attempt to come up with a solution, but was ultimately left alone, with no one on his app to comfort him.

The hardest moment to watch however once again revolved around Princess Carolyn and her inability to have a child. She was offered the chance of adopting a baby if she could get to the hospital within half an hour, but she inadvertently talked the mother into deciding against adoption. The image of her hugging her car seat after leaving the hospital empty handed is simply heart breaking.
