12 Small Details You Only Notice Rewatching It's Always Sunny In Philadelphia
4. A Pair Of Controversial Writers
Season Nine of Always Sunny gave us the classic episode Flowers for Charlie. In this episode, Charlie takes part in a scientific experiment where he is given a drug which is expected to boost his intelligence. Throughout the episode we’re led to believe that the pills have worked, and that Charlie has become a genius as a result.
However, at the end of the episode, it’s revealed that the pills were a placebo, Charlie has been talking complete nonsense the entire time, and the scientists have just been pretending to react with wonder and awe at his various ramblings throughout.
This was a great episode, with hilarity and a good time being had by all, but it’s not the content of this episode that’s the focal point of our interest here. It’s the writers. The now infamous Game of Thrones duo of David Benioff and D.B. Weiss are credited for writing this episode.
The reason that this probably flew under the radar for most viewers on their first watch is that the episode released in 2013, when Benioff and Weiss were still respectable writers. As they were yet to crush the hopes and dreams of the Game of Thrones fanbase, they were also relatively unknown at this point in history.
