12 TV Reboots You Didn't Know Were Coming
3. The Jetsons
If you've ever wanted a reboot of The Jetsons, maybe be careful what you wish for.
The original Jetsons cartoon was a classic of the sci fi genre, featuring some hugely creative ideas, and wonderful retro space aesthetic and some brilliant character designs. Yes, it didn't age quite as well as The Flintstones (and it always felt a little bit in the stone age show's shadow anyway), but it remains a animation darling.
Still, Rugrats and Animaniacs were massively popular, and these three won't be the first cartoons to get rebooted with a bit more of a modern design flavour. The only issue is, The Jetsons aren't being rebooted as a cartoon. They're getting remade in live action.
Yep, with Robert Zemeckis executive producing, The Jetsons will be filmed in front of a live studio audience as the futuristic family undergoes a complete reinvention. As a massively recognisable cartoon, you'd think an animated remake would be a slam dunk. In live action, there's much more of a risk; it wasn't exactly a smashing success for The Flintstones when they tried it.
