12 Upcoming TV Shows You Won't Believe Are Happening

RuPaul isn't so much a phenomenon as he is a force of nature. It's been upon his magnificent shoulders that Drag Race has become one of the most fiercely beloved TV shows of all time and while there are some in the wider drag community who have less enthusiastic things to say about the show, it is responsible for bringing way more mainstream visibility to that community.

Off shoots were inevitable and it's actually pretty strange that it's taken this long for Netflix to double down on RuPaul's popularity with another show. Finally, that's happening, but it's not the talk show that most people probably expected. Instead, we're getting a roadtrip TV show about Ruby Red, "a bigger-than-life but down-on-her-luck drag queen who travels across America from club to club in a rundown 1990’s R/V."

Sounds great. And now the strange part: she's joined on the journey by her "unlikely sidekick AJ, a recently orphaned, tough-talking, scrappy 11-year-old stowaway" as Ruby’s message of love and acceptance spreads infectiously across America. So, it's To Wong Foo, only starring RuPaul and an 11-year-old Artful Dodger.
