13 Best TV Moments Of 2016 (So Far)

6. Ramsay's Death - Game Of Thrones

Game of Thrones Season 6 was one of the series' very best. A triumphant return to form after a slightly underwhelming Season 5, the show picked up the pace and was heavy on the fan-pleasing moments and plot developments. There was the inevitable (Jon's return), the epic (Daenerys emerging from the flames), and the downright devastating (hold the door), all of which might've warranted a place on the list.

However, the one moment (excluding the finale, which I'll get to later) of the season that was almost overwhelming in its satisfaction was the death of Ramsay Bolton.

For the past few years we've seen Ramsay, first as Snow and then a legitimised Bolton, torture and terrorise everyone he came into contact with. A clearly sick psychopath who took sheer delight in playing mind games, and inflicting as much mental, emotional, and physical anguish on his victims as humanly possible, he was one of the most detestable characters Thrones has produced. He completely dismantled Theon, with various forms of torture used to turn him into the quivering wreck that was Reek, and then set about inflicting similar torment upon Sansa Stark, taking from her what she can never get back.

Though there were some scenes in Season 6 that were probably a bit unnecessary (we didn't need to see him killing Osha, for example), there was no doubt that it was time for him to go: he'd served his purpose as a villain, and deserved a gruesome death.

The Battle of the Bastards, a stellar episode of television, gave us that: firs the cathartic punching of his face to a bloody pulp by Jon, and then Sansa confronting him, verbally tearing him apart, and then letting his hounds literally do that. Gruesome, horrible, and nothing less than he deserved, it was a fitting end to a monstrous villain.
