13 CW Actors Who Deserve An Emmy Nomination

4. Jon Cryer - Supergirl

Jon Cryer Supergirl
The CW

It's hard to put into words what Jon Cryer accomplished in this season of Supergirl with his performance as Lex Luthor. Like many before him, the veteran actor was initially written off by some fans based on his previous roles (not-to-mention his involvement in the infamous Superman IV: The Quest For Peace) and yet, he never let the immense pressure of playing such an iconic role get to him.

In a mere three episodes, he managed to convey just about every aspect of the notorious supervillain's personality, personifying all of Lex's well-known traits as he seduced viewers with his charms one minute and got under their skin in the next. And he did all of this so darn well that he ended up stealing the show from the season's other longer-running Big Bads.

From his calculating monologues to his cheerily psychotic rendition of Frank Sinatra's 'My Way' (and who could forget that glorious "Miss Teschmacher!"?), Cryer carefully intertwined the best of what came before with the best that he had to offer and the result may have been the best of his already-stellar career.

There simply is no overstating this - Cryer's portrayal of Lex would have been right at home in a Christopher Reeve Superman movie, he would have been at home in Batman: The Animated Series and he was a comic-accurate villain that DC's big screen adventures likely would have benefited from.

Yes, this was Lex Luthor at his finest.
