13 Doctor Who Guest Stars Who Were Tragically Underused

12. Simon Pegg

Next up is another guest star from The Long Game who is a renowned cult iconic in his own right. Of course it's Simon Pegg who is beloved for his films including Shaun of the Dead and Hot Fuzz but unfortunately he was on and of our screens in Doctor Who quicker than you can say 'Holy Jagrafess of the Mighty Hadrojassic Maxarodenfoe'. He took on the role of the sinister Editor in the episode in question, a human slave of the Jagrafess who was doing its evil bidding (it was stuck on the ceiling, after all, so it needed an extra pair of hands) by controlling the broadcasting output of Satelitte Five. In the end, though, Simon's appearance was somewhat anticlimactic. He wasn't given the opportunity to really shine as he has done in the rest of his acclaimed roles and, since his comedy parter Nick Frost has just lit up our screens in his starring role as Santa Claus in the latest Christmas Special, Mr Pegg definitely deserves another crack at the whip.
