7. The Seventh Doctor
"Anybody remotely interesting is mad in some way..." - The Greatest Show In The Galaxy
Anyone that is passionately connected to a book, a film or a TV show in some way are often described as being 'weird' or 'odd' or even 'mad'. Fanatics are often maligned as being 'eccentric' and somewhat different to so-called 'regular' people. While Whovians are especially brilliant at embracing their inherent other worldliness, it's still reassuring to hear our favourite Time Lord expounding on the virtues of the 'mad'. It may ring true that fans of the show are all a little bonkers in one way or another (and brilliantly so!) so it's wonderful to hear the title character of the show itself expressing a fondness for the eccentrics of the universe. It helps, of course, that the Doctor could very well be talking to himself when he utters these words from 1988's 'The Greatest Show in the Galaxy' and so fans can feel truly connected to their hero in a very real way. If that isn't inspirational then what is?
