13 Reasons Why 13 Reasons Why's Final Season Is A Complete Trainwreck

1. The Painfully Atrocious Writing

Finally, the writing here is generally terrible.

None of the storylines are interesting; in particular, that whole thing about the school's security and the riot was very flatly written and didn't add anything at all.

The arcs, meanwhile, were very poorly told, with characters constantly fluctuating between different emotional states and doing contradictory things before abruptly moving past their personal issues in the finale. As such, none of these character endings feel remotely earned.

It's also a very poor ending for the overall show. Hannah Baker is barely mentioned, there are many loose threads (such as the clubhouse in season two) that still aren't resolved and none of the emotional drama or thematic material really works now. 13 Reasons Why gave us many interesting character moments, issues and ideas throughout its run, but none of it went anywhere in the end.

Additionally, perhaps the main message of 13 Reasons Why was 'Take responsibility for your mistakes'... except Alex and Jessica got away with killing Bryce and the others got away with covering it up, so that message doesn't exactly hit home now either.

Overall, what a terrible waste and what a sad end to a once interesting and engaging program.
