13 Reasons Why Season 3: What Does The Ending Really Mean?

6. ... And Alex Standall Killed Him

Undoubtedly the biggest shock of the season, the finale revealed that the person directly responsible for Bryce's death was none other than Alex Standall.

The troubled teen, who had begun using steroids, attempted to help the injured Bryce up (after he had been attacked by Zach) only to absolutely lose it whenever his former enemy began talking about how he was going to destroy Zach's life. In a fit of rage, Alex shoved him over the side of the pier and into the water and, before he and Jessica could take into account what he had done, Bryce drowned before their eyes.

Alex and Jessica have been through hell and back over the past three seasons, but they have always done it together - and this is no different. Every single one of the pair's best friends came together and, through Ani, effectively managed to convince the police that Montgomery De La Cruz was the man who had killed Alex. And though they, and Alex's father, helped him out of the mess, we do have to wonder what kind of impact his actions will have on him going forward.
