Another original character who found himself dealing with a lot of unfortunate situations this season was Bryce's former friend Montgomery De La Cruz (a.k.a. Monty) as he was finally forced to pay for he heinous sexual assault he perpetrated on Tyler Down last season.

However, as his personal issues with his own sexuality came to the forefront, his imprisonment was only the beginning of the end for him as, following that (and his father's disgusting attempt to humiliate him), he was killed in his jail cell.

The show's core gang subsequently managed to pin Bryce's death on him - with Ani reminding us that, while neither he or Bryce deserved to die, they had both caused so much pain and Deputy Standall should "let the dead bury the dead" instead of allowing them to cause any more.

Monty may have been a piece of work, but the writers highlighted that he was struggling with issues that he never dealt with and that he was a 'monster' created by his abusive father. It's unfortunate that he, or for that matter Bryce, never got the chance to prove that he was capable of changing. And it's going to be unusual not to see him in the halls next season.

However, will his lover, Winston, attempt to get justice for him and prove that he didn't kill Bryce?
