14th Doctor Who: 10 Actors Who Could Play Russell T. Davies’ Doctor

This is a funny one, because, theoretically, Jo Martin may already be playing the Fourteenth Doctor on screen. First appearing in Fugitive of the Judoon as the ‘Ruth Doctor’ after having used a chameleon arch to make herself appear human, this mysterious Doctor was restored, appearing briefly in The Timeless Children at the end of the series. The question of where this Doctor falls within The Doctor’s timeline is currently unclear, with neither Thirteen or Ruth remembering being each other.

There are multiple theories floating around. Some say she falls between Troughton and Pertwee, in the times after Troughton was executed and Pertwee appeared on Earth, others say she is another pre-Hartnell incarnation (let’s hope not), whilst others maintain she is a future Doctor, possibly even the next Doctor. Any of these could be true, and even if Ruth is from The Doctor’s past, there’s nothing to say she won’t be the next Doctor we follow - we may well be breaking the linear structure of the show for the first time and going back to a past Doctor.

Casting a new Doctor and then not giving them a series in the spotlight is unusual, that’s all we’re saying…
