When the news broke that Lady Gaga would be taking a lead role in Hotel, there was an air of skepticism and worry amongst the fandom, amplified by the fact that iconic mainstay Jessica Lange wouldn't be returning.

Any worries that people had were quickly tossed out the window, though, once Lady Gaga turned up as The Countess, the owner of the titular hotel and an age-old, enigmatic vampire.

Gaga was fantastic in the role, and stole the show from nearly every other cast member in the season with her terrifying persona and elegant but powerful presence.

Winning a Golden Globe for her performance, Gaga had a brief little role in the following year's Roanoke, and though she hasn't appeared on the show since, her brief time as The Countess was more than enough time for her to earn her place on this list.
