15 Best Sci-Fi TV Shows Of The 2010s

4. The Expanse

Set in a future in which humanity has only gone and - kid you not - colonized the bloody Solar System, The Expanse follows a group of antiheroes who find themselves at the heart of a conspiracy that threatens to undercut the-long-established-but-quite-uneasy peace (among other things).

Based on the novel of the same name by James S. A. Corey, the 2015 show is a mesmerising display of stunning visuals that wouldn't look out of place on the big screen and intriguing plot twists that would make the very best detective noir writer jealous. And it's all capped off by some utterly compelling character development - which is, in all honesty, perhaps the best on television.

When it comes to the all-time great sci-fi shows, The Expanse is one that just isn't talked about enough. A modern masterpiece, it is one of the most ambitious and captivating shows on our screens and this writer is so incredibly grateful to Amazon for saving it after original network Syfy abruptly cancelled it following its third season.

Thanks to Prime, the show lives to stun again in a new decade.
