15 Best Sci-Fi TV Shows Of The 21st Century

13. The 100

The X-Files
The CW

The CW series the 100 features a simple and undeniably brilliant conceit as its premise, as the eponymous one hundred young offenders are transplanted onto a (theoretically) uninhabited planet generations after the apocalypse in order to judge whether it is safe for human habitation.

What follows is a classic Lord of the Flies style power struggle, but with more raging hormones and love triangles—not to mention many of the new millennium’s most devastating onscreen deaths.

Yes, this brutal series can often rival its bigger budget and gorier fantasy cousin Game of Thrones in terms of how suddenly and viciously it offs the most beloved members of its cast. But unfortunately for more sensitive viewers, this tendency only makes the show more addictive throughout its long run.
