15 Greatest BoJack Horseman Episodes Of All Time

14. The Dog Days Are Over (Season 5, Episode 2)

BoJack Horseman The Showstopper
Netflix

Throughout season four, as Mr Peanutbutter was running for Governor, Diane felt kind of lost and out of touch with the world around her. At the end of the season, the couple break up, and it is in season five's The Dog Days Are Over that we finally get to see Diane breaking out of her usual routine and dealing with the inner turmoil building within her.

Travelling to Vietnam to get away from her old life, Diane reconnects with her ancestral home, attempts to find a new lease of life, and tries to forget about how her life has turned out.

It's a sweet little episode, allowing Diane to get some time in the spotlight and deal with her problems. Though at its core it's as sad as the bulk of the show, there is within the episode a glimmer of hope, as Mr Peanutbutter moves on and Diane begins to feel closure after the divorce. It's hard to see Diane so broken-up, but it's nice to see she won't let herself be defined by the worst parts of her life.

I get to write about what I love, so that's pretty cool. Every great film should seem new every time you see it. Be excellent to each other.
